  • Gov. Howard Dean to Get Out the Vote This Weekend in North Dakota, Minnesota, Washington and Oregon

    This weekend, DNC Chairman Howard Dean will campaign in the upper Midwest and the Pacific Northwest, where he will headline rallies and help Get Out the Vote on behalf of the Obama-Biden ticket, Tinklenberg for Congress, Franken for Senate, Gregoire for Governor, Merkley for Senate and other Democrats up-and-down the ballot.

    On Saturday, Dean will headline rallies with Senators Kent Conrad and Byron Dorgan, Congressman Earl Pomeroy and gubernatorial candidate Tim Mathern in Grand Forks and Fargo, North Dakota. Later in the day, Dean will campaign with House Candidate Elwyn Tinklenberg in St. Cloud, Minnesota before attending a Get Out the Vote rally in Minneapolis, Minnesota for Obama-Biden and Al Franken.

    On Sunday, Dean will head to the Pacific Northwest where he will attend rallies with Governor Chris Gregoire in Seattle and Fife, Washington. Later that day, Dean will campaign for Obama-Biden and Jeff Merkley, candidate for U.S. Senate, at get-out-the-vote rallies in Portland and Eugene, Oregon.

  • Former GOP MN Governor Backs Barack Obama

    Senator Barack Obama is gaining support from folks on both sides of the isle. Earlier this week, he received the backing of four-star general and former Secretary of State Colin Powell, and news out of Minnesota this morning was that former Republican Governor Arne Carlson is supporting Barack Obama for president.

    "Regardless of our party, regardless of our partisan inclinations, there is no interest more compelling than the interest in the well-being of the United States," Carlson said at a gathering of Obama supporters at the state Capitol.

    Carlson added, "He has laid out for this nation a vision for a national purpose."

    Carlson joins a growing list of a "Obamicans," as the Democratic presidential nominee likes to call them. Learn more about Republicans for Obama here.

  • DNC Launches New Web Ad: ''90 Percent Bush''

    As the Republican National Convention continues in St. Paul, MN, tonight, the Democratic National Committee today released a new web ad called "90 Percent Bush." The video highlights John McCain's record of voting with George W. Bush 90 percent of the time. Straightforward images illustrate what 90 percent really means, showing how John McCain is just more of the same.

    "In a year when Americans want change, McCain is offering more of the same," said the DNC's Brad Woodhouse. "John McCain has voted with President Bush 90 percent of the time, and Americans can't afford more of the same failed Bush policies for another four years."

  • DNC Response to Revised Republican Convention Plans

    In light of the situation in the Gulf Coast, the Democratic National Committee announced that is has canceled its daily media briefing at the More of the Same Media Center on Monday, September 1. Additional scheduling updates will be provided when available.

  • More of the Same Media Center: Day 1

    The Democratic National Committee today announced the program at the More of the Same Media Center for Day 1 of the Republican National Convention. The day will start with an 8:30 am breakfast followed by a 9:15 am press briefing featuring featuring Texas Rep. Chet Edwards, California Rep. Hilda Solis, and VoteVets Chairman and co-founder Jon Soltz. Additionally, the Obama for America campaign will hold a Camp Obama training to teach volunteers the best strategies to organize their towns and neighborhoods and turn Obama supporters out to vote on November 4.

    Each day of the Republican convention, Democrats will outline John McCain's promise of more of the same failed Bush policies at the DNC at the RNC's More of the Same Media Center -- conveniently located directly across the street from the Xcel Energy Center at 411 Main Street. Breakfast will begin at 8:30AM, with the news conference beginning at 9:15AM. The news conference will be made available to outlets around the country via satellite. Reporters who attend the morning briefing will also receive updated flash drives pre-loaded with information related to that day's theme and convention speakers.
